Choosing recovery gear

MAXTRAX boards come in three families. MKII is the all-rounder most people buy. XTREME is built for the hardest going. LITE trades some strength for weight and packed size. All of them are made in Australia.

Kinetic rope or static rope?

A kinetic rope stretches under load and stores energy, and that stretch is what does the work in a snatch recovery. A static rope does not stretch, and is for towing, winch extensions and tree trunk protection, where stored energy is the last thing you want. Using one in place of the other is the most common recovery mistake there is. Every rope on our pages lists its minimum breaking strength - match it to your vehicle rather than to the biggest number on the shelf.

Shackles

Soft shackles are lighter than steel, they float, and they do not become a projectile if something lets go. The rating is on each product page.

Mounting

Boards need pins and mounts to live on a rack or tub. Mounting pin sets, rack mounts and replacement teeth are all in this collection, so a set of boards stays serviceable rather than becoming landfill after one hard trip.
