The Rainger Duo 6ARM 2.0M is a feature-packed 6-arm freestanding 270 degree awning that delivers the most comprehensive shade, lighting and wall kit coverage in the Duo range. It wraps 270° from the passenger side across the rear of your rig with six arms — four that fold rearward like a standard 270°, plus two additional front arms that fold forward from the awning back plate toward the bonnet, extending the coverage footprint and adding an extra forward LED lighting zone.
At approximately 29kg, this is a well thought out touring awning built for full-size vehicles, dual-cab utes, wagons and canopy setups. Two integrated telescopic legs, two ratchet ropes, anti-pooling legs, a waterproof D Zip for rooftop tent access, and a rear water channel flap with rare earth magnets — all standard. Built from 280GSM blackout ripstop canvas in Desert Tan or Midnight Black.
For buyers running a Revo-X rooftop tent, the 6ARM sits about the same length as the tent when installed — giving you a clean, sleek look where the awning and tent line up rather than overhanging the front.
D Zip and rear water channel flap standard. The D Zip is a zippered opening in the roof of the awning for access to your rooftop tent from underneath. The rear water channel flap uses rare earth magnets to sit against the vehicle roof, directing rain away from the back door of wagons. Both features engineered from day one to work reliably without compromise.
In stock. Ships Australia-wide from Baringa, QLD.

6-Arm Design — What the Extra Front Arms Give You
Most 270° awnings use 4 arms that all fold rearward from a single pivot. The Duo 6ARM adds two additional arms at the front that fold forward from the awning back plate toward the bonnet of the vehicle, extending the coverage footprint further along the vehicle's length.
-
6 arms total — 4 rear-folding + 2 forward-folding front arms
-
Extended front coverage — the extra arms push the awning footprint further forward along the vehicle
-
Longer wall corridor — more wall attachment points for a longer, more enclosed side shelter when wall kits are fitted
-
Extra forward LED zone — an additional lighting zone further forward with its own separate dimmer
-
Similar overall square-metre coverage to the 2.5M — despite the shorter 2.0M arm reach, the extra front arms compensate
The choice between the 6ARM and the 4-arm 2.5M is a preference decision. The 6ARM gives you a longer corridor of coverage along the vehicle and more wall kit options. The 2.5M gives you longer arm reach straight out from the vehicle. The overall shade footprint is similar — it is really about which layout suits how you use your campsite.
If wall kits are part of your plan, the 6ARM gives you longer wall coverage and more attachment points. A full angled wall kit system with doors and windows is also in development for this model.
Freestanding 270° — Wraps the Side and Rear
The Duo 6ARM wraps from the passenger side across the rear of the vehicle in a 270° arc. Freestanding means it hangs from your mounting surface — rack, canopy rails or rooftop tent — without needing ground contact to hold its shape.
-
270° wrap across the passenger side and rear
-
Freestanding — hangs from your mounting surface without needing the ground for structural support
-
2.0M arm reach — practical shade distance without excessive overhang
-
Clean RTT fit — the 2.0M length sits about the same length as a Revo-X when installed, giving a sleek integrated look
Your rack and brackets must be strong enough to support the full weight of the awning — at 29kg this is the heaviest model in the Duo range and your mounting solution needs to account for that. We sell purpose-designed brackets for the Revo-X and universal options for other rack setups. Contact us if you are unsure what your setup needs.
Setup — More Arms, Still Straightforward
The Duo 6ARM has more arms to deploy than the 4-arm models, but the process follows the same core sequence. One person can set this up — though having a second person for the first couple of setups can make learning the arm sequence easier.
- Unzip the PVC bag and lift it over the top of the awning
- Release the nylon straps holding the canvas up
- Connect the ratchet ropes to the end attachment points
- Walk the awning around to its full 270° position, deploying the rear-folding and forward-folding arms as you go
- Connect the ratchet ropes to suitable tie-down points on the other side of the vehicle and tension
-
Optional: Drop one or both telescopic legs for additional support
-
Optional: Tie down arm ends with guy ropes in gusty conditions
-
Optional: Attach zipper wall kits for extra shade or wind protection
Two ratchet ropes and two integrated telescopic legs give you a solid, balanced canopy once tensioned. The ratchet ropes do the primary work — tension them properly and the awning is set. The legs are optional additional support.
Pack-down is the same steps in reverse. Arms fold back in sequence, straps go on, bag goes over, zip it shut.
Integrated LED Lighting — 3 Independent Zones
The Duo 6ARM includes LED lighting strips built into 5 of the 6 awning arms, split across 3 independent lighting zones — 1 front zone and 2 rear zones. The front arm closest to the back plate does not include an LED strip due to the way the arms fold for storage — but the remaining 5 arms give you more lighting coverage and control than any other model in the Duo range.
- LED strips on 5 of 6 arms
-
3 independent lighting zones — 1 front, 2 rear
-
Dual-colour output — warm white for camp ambience, cool white for task lighting
-
3 separate USB-A dimmer controllers — one per zone for full independent control
- Powered via 5V USB-A — plug into your power bank, vehicle USB, or battery system (power source not included)
To get the lights running, plug the push-in connectors into the arms and connect the 3 dimmer controllers to any USB-A power source. Takes about a minute.
Three zones let you light different areas of your camp independently. Bright task lighting over the camp kitchen at the rear, dim warm light on the side, and the front zone set to whatever suits — or any combination you want. The extra forward zone is something unique to the 6ARM.
280GSM Blackout Ripstop Canvas
The Duo 6ARM uses 280GSM blackout ripstop canvas — the same fabric across the entire Duo range. Substantially heavier and more UV-resistant than the 200–220GSM polyester used on many competing 270 awnings.
- 280GSM blackout ripstop construction
- Full blackout underside — reduces radiant heat beneath the awning
- UV-rated for sustained Australian sun exposure
- Ripstop grid helps prevent small tears from spreading across the panel
- PU-lined and vacuum heat-sealed seams
The blackout underside blocks heat transmission that standard canvas lets straight through, creating a noticeably cooler and more comfortable space beneath — especially during midday in northern Australia.
Available in Desert Tan with coffee-brown nylon edging or Midnight Black for a more universal stealth look. Both colourways match the Revo-X roof top tent range for a cohesive touring setup.
Wall Kit Ready — Proper Zippers, Not Velcro
The Duo 6ARM comes pre-fitted with proper outdoor zippers at every wall attachment point — not Velcro. Velcro loses grip when dirty, wears out over time, and lets wind pull walls away from the awning edge. Zippers hold firm, seal properly, and last.
-
Numbered labels at each wall position so you know exactly which wall goes where
-
Full outdoor-rated zippers pre-installed on the awning at each wall attachment point
- Single wall kits currently available for specified wall positions
- Full angled wall kit system with doors and windows in development
The 6ARM's extra front arms give you a longer corridor of wall coverage compared to the 4-arm models — more attachment points and a longer enclosed space when walls are fitted. Once the full angled wall kit system is released, the 6ARM will be the most comprehensive enclosed camp shelter option in the range, with angled walls that give you ground-level coverage at the base and increased area at the top, plus integrated door and window systems.
D Zip Roof Access and Rear Water Channel Flap
The Duo 6ARM comes standard with both the D Zip and rear water channel flap.
D Zip — Roof Access Through the Awning
The D Zip is a zippered opening in the roof of the awning canopy. Unzip it and you have direct access up to your rooftop tent from underneath.
- Access your RTT from underneath on ute and canopy setups where a rear ladder goes up to the tent
- Pass gear, phones, chargers or coffees up into the tent without going around to the side ladder
- Let light and airflow through on overcast days when the awning feels dark underneath
- Unzip to reduce wind catch — creates an opening so gusts pass through instead of loading the canvas
On a wagon with a rear spare tire, the D Zip is less likely to be your primary tent access — most wagon setups use the side ladder as normal. But it is still useful for ventilation, passing things up, or reducing wind load. On a ute or canopy setup with a rear-mounted ladder, the D Zip becomes a practical entry point into the tent.
Why Our D Zip Works — When Most Do Not
D Zips are uncommon on competing awnings because most manufacturers have not worked out how to stop them leaking. The Duo awning was designed from the start with the D Zip in mind.
-
Purpose-selected waterproof zipper rated for the application
-
PU-lined and vacuum heat-sealed seams around the D Zip opening
-
D Zip shape engineered for maximum water runoff — water runs around the outskirts of the opening as it flows down the fabric, so very little reaches the zip face
-
Top flap protects the zip from above, adding a further layer of water diversion
The result is a D Zip that works reliably without compromise. We do not even charge extra for it — it is standard on this model.
Rear Water Channel Flap
The rear edge of the awning includes a flap with rare earth magnets that sits against the vehicle roof. On steel or magnetisable surfaces, the magnets hold the flap in position and create a water channel that directs rain away from the back door of wagons — stopping water dripping onto you when you open the tailgate.
On alloy canopies or non-magnetic surfaces, the magnets will not grip, but the flap still provides a degree of water management through its position and overlap.
Stability — Anti-Pooling Legs, Rain Tabs, Telescopic Legs and Tie-Downs
The Duo 6ARM includes a comprehensive stability system to handle rain, wind and varied camp conditions:
-
2 x anti-pooling stand-up legs — hold the canvas up in key areas to prevent water pooling on the awning surface
-
5 x rain tabs — stitched at the top of the seam between arm pairs. Tie a guy rope to each tab to pull the canvas down in the centre, creating rain channels so water runs off instead of pooling. Stitched from the top of the seam so no water pools at the seam end either.
-
6 x arm-end tie-down points — one at the end of each arm for direct guy rope anchoring to the ground
-
2 x integrated telescopic drop-down legs — height-adjustable, one at each end for balanced support
-
2 x easy-pull ratchet ropes with hooks — primary tensioning system
Two ratchet ropes and two telescopic legs give you a balanced, stable canopy across the full length of the awning. Tension the ratchet ropes and the awning is set — the legs are optional additional support.
In sustained wind, use the arm-end tie-down points with guy ropes and pegs for additional anchoring. Like any fabric awning, pack it away in severe storm conditions.
1000GSM PVC Awning Bag
The awning packs into a 1000GSM black PVC bag with a tough matte-look finish that sits against the side of your vehicle when not in use.
- 1000GSM PVC construction — heavy-duty, UV-stable, wipe-clean
- Rubber patch branding — not a cheap screen print. Will not fade, peel or deteriorate over time
- Internal anti-wick tongue under the zipper — reduces water tracking into the bag when driving in rain
- Velcro storm flaps at the front and rear panels of the bag — secondary water protection covering the most exposed sections when driving into rain
These details limit how much water gets into the bag in the first place — but they do not eliminate it entirely. If your awning gets wet, air it out before long-term storage. Water sitting inside a closed bag for extended periods will cause mould on any canvas, regardless of brand. Check the bag periodically, especially after wet trips, and open it up to dry if needed.

The awning mounts to roof racks, canopy roof rails, or directly to a Revo-X roof top tent via our dedicated brackets. Your rack and brackets must be strong enough to support the full weight of the awning — at 29kg this is the heaviest model in the Duo range and your mounting solution needs to account for that.
Lift-up tailgate note (300 Series, Pajero Sport, wagons): If your vehicle has a rear lift-up tailgate, the awning should be mounted as high as possible. In some cases the tailgate may still contact the awning fabric when opened. If this is a real concern for your setup, consider the Duo 180° Awning instead — it is fully side-mounted and will not interfere with any rear tailgate.
Not sure what fits? Contact us with your vehicle, rack or canopy brand and a photo of your setup — we will confirm the right awning and bracket combination before anything ships.
Mounting and Brackets — Get It Right the First Time
Mounting brackets are sold separately because no single bracket fits every setup on the market. Rather than including a generic bracket that may not work for your rig, we offer purpose-matched options:
-
Rainger Revo-X Awning Brackets — designed to mount directly to the Revo-X RTT dual bottom track with support from the third T-slot channel. The Revo-X is a complete ecosystem — the tent, awning and brackets are all designed to work together.
-
Rainger Universal L-Brackets — 7-way adjustable, suits most roof rack and canopy rail setups
-
Rack-specific brackets — some manufacturers (Rhino Rack, ARB, Front Runner) offer brackets designed for their own systems
Mounting Best Practices
For the best result with this 270° awning:
-
Rear bracket first — mount the rearmost bracket as close to the awning pivot point as possible. This is the most important mounting position and carries the most load.
-
Minimum 800mm spacing — space the front bracket at least 800mm forward from the rear bracket
-
Front bracket as far forward as possible — if your rack or rooftop tent allows it, push the front bracket further forward for the best overall load distribution
Most of the support is needed at the rear near the pivot. Getting the rear bracket position right is the single most important piece of mounting advice for this awning.
Universal brackets provided by most awning brands rarely work well across the full range of Australian setups. Getting the bracket solution right the first time saves you buying a second set later and protects your rack or canopy warranty.
Contact us before ordering if you are unsure — we will walk you through what works best for your specific vehicle and rack setup.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the advantage of 6 arms over 4?
The two extra front arms extend the coverage footprint further forward along the vehicle, give you a longer corridor of wall coverage when wall kits are fitted, and add an extra forward LED lighting zone with its own dimmer. Despite the shorter 2.0M arm reach compared to the 2.5M model, the total shade coverage is similar because the extra front arms compensate. It is a preference choice — the 6ARM suits buyers who want longer wall enclosure and the extra lighting zone, while the 2.5M suits buyers who want maximum arm reach in the simplest possible setup.
Is the Duo 6ARM freestanding?
Yes. The Duo 6ARM is a freestanding 270 degree awning — it hangs from your mounting surface (roof rack, canopy rails or rooftop tent) without needing to touch the ground to hold its shape. Once the ratchet ropes are tensioned, the awning is set. The telescopic legs can be dropped for optional additional support but are not required. Your rack and brackets must be strong enough to support the 29kg awning weight.
Can one person set up the 6ARM?
Yes, one person can set it up. The process follows the same core sequence as the 4-arm models — unzip, release straps, walk the awning around, tension the ratchet ropes. There are more arms to deploy, so a second person can make the first couple of setups easier while you learn the sequence. Once you know the order, solo setup is straightforward.
What is the difference between the 6ARM 2.0M and the 4-arm 2.5M?
The 6ARM has 6 arms with 2.0-metre reach, 3 independent LED lighting zones, 2 ratchet ropes, 2 integrated telescopic legs, and longer wall corridor coverage. The 2.5M has 4 arms with longer 2.5-metre reach, 2 LED zones, 1 ratchet rope, and 1 telescopic leg. The actual square-metre shade coverage is similar — it is a preference decision. The 6ARM gives you more wall kit options and the extra forward lighting zone. The 2.5M gives you maximum straight-line reach from the vehicle in the simplest, fastest setup. Both include D Zip, rear water channel flap and anti-pooling legs.
Why do only 5 of the 6 arms have LED lighting?
The front arm closest to the awning back plate does not include an LED strip due to the way the arms fold for storage. The fold geometry on that arm does not allow for a reliable lighting connection. The remaining 5 arms all have integrated LED strips across 3 independent zones — 1 front zone and 2 rear zones — giving you comprehensive lighting coverage across the full awning.
Does the 6ARM work with a roof top tent?
Yes. The 6ARM is fully compatible with rooftop tent setups when the correct brackets are used. The Rainger Revo-X is a complete ecosystem where the tent, awning and brackets are all designed to work together — and the 2.0M length sits about the same length as a Revo-X when installed for a clean, integrated look. For other RTT brands, not all tents support direct awning mounting — some brands with a dual bottom track will support it, while others may require mounting to the rack separately. Contact us with your setup and we will confirm what works before you buy.
What brackets do I need for the 6ARM?
Brackets are sold separately because no single bracket fits every rack, canopy and vehicle combination. Rainger offers Revo-X-specific awning brackets that mount directly to the RTT shell tracks, universal 7-way adjustable L-brackets for most setups, and guidance on rack-specific options from Rhino Rack, ARB and Front Runner. The rearmost bracket should be as close to the awning pivot as possible, with minimum 800mm spacing to the front bracket, and the front bracket as far forward as your rack or RTT allows. Contact us with your vehicle and setup details and we will confirm the right bracket before you order.
How do the 3 LED lighting zones work?
LED strips are built into 5 of the 6 awning arms, split across 3 independent zones — 1 front zone and 2 rear zones. Each zone has its own USB-A dimmer controller, so you can set different brightness and colour temperature for each area of the awning independently. Plug the push-in connectors into the arms and connect the 3 dimmers to any USB-A power source. The power source is not included — use a power bank, vehicle USB outlet, or camp battery system.
What is the D Zip and how do I use it?
The D Zip is a zippered opening in the roof of the awning canopy. Unzip it and you have access up to your rooftop tent from underneath. On a ute or canopy setup with a rear-mounted ladder, you can climb up through the D Zip into the tent. It is also handy for passing gear up, letting light through when the awning feels dark, or unzipping to reduce wind catch in gusty conditions. On a wagon with a rear spare tire, you will typically use the side ladder for tent access as normal, but the D Zip is still useful for ventilation and convenience.
Why is the D Zip not common on other awning brands?
Most manufacturers have not worked out how to stop a D Zip from leaking. The Duo awning was designed from the very start with the D Zip in mind. We secured the right waterproof zipper for the application, the awning fabric is PU-lined and vacuum heat-sealed around the seams, and the D Zip shape is engineered so that water runs around the outskirts of the opening as it flows down the fabric — meaning very little water ever reaches the zip face. A protective top flap adds a further layer of water diversion. The result is a reliable, no-compromise D Zip that we include as standard — we do not even charge extra for it like most brands do.
Can I add extra legs to the awning?
Yes. Additional telescopic legs are sold separately. Each leg has a spigot that inserts into the end of any awning arm at a position where there is not an arm present. This lets you add support at additional points around the awning perimeter where you feel it is needed.
My vehicle has a lift-up tailgate. Will the 6ARM work?
The awning should be mounted as high as possible on vehicles with a rear lift-up tailgate. In some cases the tailgate may still contact the awning fabric when opened. If this is a real concern for your vehicle, consider the Rainger Duo 180 Degree Awning instead — it is fully side-mounted and will not interfere with any rear lift-up tailgate. Contact us with your vehicle details and we can advise which model suits best.
Will the 6ARM handle strong wind?
The awning handles moderate wind well when both ratchet ropes are properly tensioned. In gusty conditions, use the arm-end tie-down points with guy ropes and pegs for additional anchoring. You can also unzip the D Zip to let wind pass through instead of catching the full canvas area. The anti-pooling legs and rain tabs help maintain canvas shape in rain and wind. Like any fabric awning, it should be packed away in severe storm conditions to avoid damage.
