The REDARC BCDC Alpha 25 is the 25A model in REDARC's flagship Alpha range. It charges your auxiliary battery from the alternator and from solar, monitors and configures over Bluetooth in the REDARC app, and it will recover a flat start battery at the push of a button.
Rated for engine bay installation, with IP67 / IP69K dust and moisture protection and an operating range of -40C to 85C.
You will also need - your charger does not come with fuses
- Mounted in the cabin, canopy or a battery box? REDARC specify a 40A vehicle input fuse and it is not supplied. The matched kit is our REDARC FK40 Fuse Kit.
- Mounted in the engine bay? REDARC rate engine bay fuses higher to allow for the heat, so on an Alpha 25 that is a 50A fuse, not 40A. The FK40 is not the right kit for that install - call us on 07 5211 0841 and we will sort the correct one.
- Fuses must sit within 150mm of the battery positive terminal - the REDARC KIT19 battery to fuse cable is made for exactly that run.
- REDARC recommend keeping the cable run between the charger and the auxiliary battery under 1 metre.
- REDARC recommend installation by a qualified auto electrician.
Is the 25 the right one, or do you need the 50?
REDARC recommend the Alpha 25 for battery banks of 40 to 300Ah with a solar array up to 500W. If your bank or your array is bigger than that, step up to the REDARC Alpha 50.
Both units share the same feature set - Bluetooth, start battery recovery, IP67 / IP69K and engine bay rating - so the choice is purely about charge rate and system size. Always check your battery manufacturer's maximum recommended charge current before sizing up.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the Alpha 25 be mounted in the engine bay?
Yes. REDARC list the BCDC Alpha 25 as suitable for engine bay installation, with IP67 / IP69K protection and a -40C to 85C operating range. Note that an engine bay install needs a higher fuse rating than an in-cabin one - 50A rather than 40A.
What size battery bank does the Alpha 25 suit?
REDARC recommend 40 to 300Ah, with a solar array up to 500W. Above that, the Alpha 50 is the right unit. Always check your battery manufacturer's maximum recommended charge current - exceeding it shortens battery life rather than charging usefully faster.
Does it come with fuses?
No. For an in-cabin or canopy install REDARC specify a 40A vehicle input fuse and the matched kit is the REDARC FK40. For an engine bay install the rating goes up to 50A to allow for heat. Fuses must be mounted within 150mm of the battery positive terminal, which is what the KIT19 cable is for.
How is the Alpha different from a BCDC Classic?
The Classic is a very good set-and-forget charger. The Alpha adds Bluetooth monitoring and configuration, flat start battery recovery, an adjustable input current limit to protect the alternator, over-the-air updates, a higher 48V solar input, and a much wider -40C to 85C operating range with IP67 / IP69K sealing.
Will it charge lithium?
Yes. It carries profiles for standard lithium (LiFePO4) and heated lithium, as well as AGM, Gel, calcium and standard lead acid.
How far can the charger be from the battery?
REDARC recommend keeping the cable run between the charger and the auxiliary battery under 1 metre. Longer runs mean voltage drop, which means the battery never sees the full charge voltage.
